Op deze groene site met glooiend karakter in Ieper werd een voorstel uitgewerkt voor 24 nieuwbouw-appartementen. Het project bestaat uit twee volumes die slim aan de rand van het terrein worden gepositioneerd om een dynamische architectuur met zoveel mogelijk collectieve groene ruimte te bekomen. De spatie die ontstaat tussen de twee gebouwen wordt zo de ‘poort naar de site’. Het bestaande hoogteverschil van het landschap werd ingezet om de gradiënten tussen publiek en privaat terrein op te lossen maar ook om de impact van de architectuur zoveel mogelijk in harmonie met de omgeving te laten geschieden. Het binnengebied is enkel toegankelijk voor de zachte weggebruiker en de impact van auto’s op het terrein wordt maximaal beperkt. De appartementen zelf werden ontworpen in functie van de oriëntatie en bezonning op het terrein. Een logische schakeling van ruimtes zorgt voor een lichte en aangename sfeer in de leefruimtes die daardoor ook kunnen profiteren van een maximale zonnewinst. Er werd in de ontwerpfase dan ook stevig ingezet op duurzame productie en gebruik van energie.
On this green, sloping site in the city of Ieper, a proposal was developed for 24 new apartments. The projects consist of two volumes that are cleverly positioned at the edge of the site to achieve a dynamic architecture with as much collective space as possible. The space created in between the two buildings thus becomes the ‘gateway to the site’. The existing landscape was used to resolve the gradients between public and private, but also to ensure that the impact of the architecture is working harmonious with the environment. The inner area of the site is only accessible for bikes and pedestrians and the impact of cars on the site is as limited as possible. The apartments are designed based on orientation and the position of the sun on the site. A logical connection of spaces ensures a light and pleasant atmosphere in the living areas, which can therefore also benefit from the sunlight. During the designing, a strong focus was placed on sustainable production and use of energy.
