PAPAGENO
Papageno is een basisschool voor 240 leerlingen in Evere en is het resultaat van een architectuurwedstrijd georganiseerd door het GO!. De site ligt aan de rand van de stad Brussel tussen een echte ‘dorpstraat’ en een nieuwe grootschalige woonwijk. Vanaf de straat wordt men door één centrale circulatie-as aangetrokken tot de site. De basisschool en fietsenstalling takken aan op deze circulatie-as. Vanuit de korrel van de omgeving wordt het volume aan de straatkant beperkt gehouden. De school wordt in het straatbeeld gevisualiseerd door een beschermende luifel met aansluitend technische berging. De kleuter- en lagere school inclusief polyvalente ruimte wordt achteraan, als een compact volume, achteraan de site geplaatst. Omwille van de beperkte grondoppervlakte wordt de polyvalente ruimte deels ingegraven. Ze is zowel bereikbaar via de interne circulatie als via een externe trap langsheen het gebouw. Visueel contact en lichtinval wordt mogelijk gemaakt vanaf zowel niveau 0 als -1. Het schoolgebouw houdt een zekere afstand tot de bestaande ommuring, die met groen begroeit wordt. Door de positionering van het gebouw ontstaan verschillende buitenruimten met elk een eigen karakter en op maat van kinderen.
Papageno is a primary school for 240 pupils in Evere and is the result of an architectural competition organised by the GO!. The site is located on the edge of Brussels between a real 'village street' and a new large-scale residential area. From the street, one is drawn to the site by a single central axis of circulation. The primary school and bicycle shed branch off this axis of circulation. From the grain of the surroundings, the volume on the street side is minimised. The school is visualised in the streetscape by a protective canopy with adjacent technical storage. The kindergarten and primary school, including a multipurpose room, will be placed as a compact volume at the back of the site. Because of the limited ground area, the multifunctional space will be partly buried. It is accessible both via the internal circulation and via an external staircase along the building. Visual contact and light are made possible from both level 0 and -1. The school building keeps a certain distance from the existing wall, which will be overgrown with greenery. The positioning of the building creates different outdoor spaces, each with its own character and tailored to children.
