De kwaliteiten van het gebouw toonden aan dat er veel interessante mogelijkheden zijn om er een aangename verblijft- of werkplek van te maken. Bij het ontwerpen hebben we verschillende principes aangehouden om te komen tot een coherent geheel dat haalbaar is met het beschikbare budget. Volgende uitgangspunten gaven hierbij de doorslag: met een minimum aan middelen een maximum resultaat, ruwbouw is afwerking, maximaal gebruik van bestaande structuren, behoud van de bestaande gevels, verbruik van de bestaande technische installaties, flexibiliteit in de toekomst, ontpitten van het binnengebied, scheiden van circulatiepatronen, kwalitatieve lichtinval en zichten, creatie van relatie met de omgeving.
The qualities of the building showed that there are many interesting possibilities to make it a pleasant place to stay or work. When designing, we followed several principles to achieve a coherent whole that was feasible with the available budget. The following principles were decisive: with a minimum of means a maximum result, shell is finish, maximum use of existing structures, preservation of the existing facades, use of existing technical installations, flexibility in the future, unpicking of the inner area, separation of circulation patterns, quality light and views, creation of a relationship with the environment.
